 Who are we?

In 1981 four families from the American Church in London wanted to start a mission church in Surrey. It was named the American Community Church and 'incorporated' in Delaware. To reflect changes in membership and to make all nationalities welcome the name was changed to the International Community Church in 1988.

The current makeup of the church is mostly North American English; European, Australian and South African members make up a small but growing percentage of the church. The congregation has grown to about 150 families despite the fact that 30% of our members are transferred every year. Many church denominations are represented: Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, Catholic, Episcopalian, Southern Baptist, Bible Church, Assemblies of God, Disciples of Christ, Christian and Missionary Alliance, Church of England, Church of Christ, UCC and others.

Staff Information

The church staff manage most of the day-to-day operations for the church and train and resource the volunteers. According to our church bylaws, all pastoral staff members shall be regularly ordained Protestant clergy of an established denomination. As such, our pastors are accountable for their conduct and ministry to their denomination of ordination.

Matt Blair - Assistant Worship Director

Matt

Matt hails orginally from the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to England with his family in 1995 where he finished high school. After graduating from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and performing in film and theatre throughout Britian for the last four years he found himself called to use his musical and dramatic gifts for the ministry of ICC. When he's not banging out chord progressions on his guitar in the church office he's probably on the phone to his lovely English lass, Verity. God bless mobile phone technology.

Kerryn Bullough - Youth Intern

Kerryn and her husband, James, moved to England in January 2007 from South Africa, which has always been their home, to teach.  Kerryn has always had a love for children and a passion to work with them. She worked as a remedial teacher while studying, where she thoroughly enjoyed helping kids through their difficulties.

Kerryn was very involved in the children’s ministry in their home church on a volunteer basis and so when they began attending ICC, she looked for ways in which to serve with the youth.  Through an amazing series of events, she became part of the ICC team in August 2007, where she works full time with the youth. She is very excited about this new adventure that God has led her into and looks forward to building relationships with the youth and their families and encouraging them in their relationships with Jesus.

Michelle Loubser - Director of Family Ministries

Michelle – a passionate, British born but mostly South African matured, trained teacher who just has a heart for children and people – has joined the full time team of ICC.  Her responsibilities include running the different children’s programmes of the Church.  With her extensive teacher training and experience and her love for God, she hopes to be an effective vessel through which the Holy Spirit can work, bringing growth, understanding and greater knowledge of God and His love to the children and families of ICC.  Her experience of teaching children has gone from teaching poor, underprivileged children in South Africa to children of parents working in embassies and consulates in Israel, children facing daily the threat of terror or evacuation.  Her experience has also taken her from teaching in the classroom to becoming the Principal of the Elementary school.  The underlying motivation through it all- RELATIONSHIP: her relationship with God, with her family and with people, little or big. The reasons for this motivation, well she will tell you, “It is God’s – Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and then love your neighbour as you love yourself!”
