Missions: International

For many years the ICC has been involved in overseas projects both practically and financially. Over 75% of ICC's missions giving goes to support overseas ministries and missionaries.

In Africa

EnduduZweni, meaning place of comfort, Community Care Centre was started in June 2006, to meet the needs of the vulnerable children and adults in the communities of Bulembu and Malalanda in Swaziland.  The Centre's ethos is "Love the children, feed the children, and educate the children in the name of Jesus Christ."  The centre started with 20+ children and now has close to 70 registered. Six full time staff help manage and look after the children five days a week.  We also have an after school program for older children in the community, where they can play with toys and create with art supplies.  10 women regularly come together to make handicrafts like bracelets, grass bags and other creative items.  We have also started an ESL class for these ladies.

Lee-Ann McFarlane, a former ICC member, was commissioned as an ICC missionary to Swaziland in August 2004.

“My prayer is that as these children experience love and support, they will in turn reach out to others in their families and communities who are living in hopelessness and despair, and extend the encouragement they have received.”

In Romania

Sami Mitra started his mission, Children of the Promise, in 1995 to help the gypsy children in Romania.  The gypsies are Romania's neglected "race".  They were sold and treated as slaves until the mid-19th century and never integrated into Romanian society.  Once an exotic nation of wanderers, they are trying now to find their place in the modern world.

There are 1.5 million gypsies in Romania, most of whom are treated as outcasts.  In turn, their children are often neglected and left to fend for themselves through prostitution, aggressive begging, stealing, etc.  Sami's mission, which tends to about 150 children, breaks the cycle of social and economic oppression and familial neglect through feeding, teaching and clothing these young gypsies.

Sami runs a day center for children in a north western city of Romania called Oradea.  In addition, he has also established a women's center to house and assist young gypsy women who, without Sami's help, would have no means of support.   He uses these facilities to help the gypsies integrate into society and learn of Christ's love for them.  The center's primary means of support is ICC.

In Russia

The Comfort Foundation was established as a charitable organization to provide material and spiritual support to Russian children in institutions such as orphanages, hospitals and various children’s homes.  We believe that through a ministry of compassion, our deeds will be a fragrant aroma of Christ to the community.

Our goal is to touch the lives of children and, if possible, their educators, counselors and parents through material help and biblically-centered teaching.  We currently focus our efforts on five orphanages and a Down’s syndrome center in Vologda, as well as Light of Hope Children's Center in Cherepovets.  We work with directors of these orphanages and centers to provide some of their basic needs through funds donated by various organizations, churches and individuals.  We also organize Russian volunteers to teach weekly Bible clubs for children and adult Bible studies and seminars for educators and counselors.
